The Fathers were two Spanish conquistadors who found the Fountain of Eternal Youth in the swamp now inhabited by Man-Thing, located near Citrusville, Florida. Drinking water from the fountain transformed the Fathers into purple ogres. They founded la Hacienda, a small village which has remained hidden in the Florida jungle ever since then. The village has its own religous beliefs and customs centered on the Fountain of Eternal Youth and the Fathers. Man-Thing and She-Hulk have both encountered la Hacienda and the Fathers. She-Hulk was not at all tolerant of the society the Fathers had created, even though it was a peaceful, functioning community.
