Maybelle Tork's hatred was powerful enough that it created demons which endangered Man-Thing and her own husband, Zeke. Hatred alone does not normally create physically manfest demons, so we must wonder if Maybelle Tork dabbled in demonolatry. We don't think so. The demons seem to have been created by a strange red mist in the swamp. This mysterious mist, probably occult in nature, drew on Maybelle's hatred and the demons appeared. Realistically speaking, this is probably the extent of Maybelle's connection to demons. She didn't really worship demons or even willfully intend to summon them. But she did have intense hatred in her heart, and one might wonder why that is the case. Obviously she was not spiritually centered.
