One of the "Gods of Olympus."

In 2002, Argentinian comic book publisher Portal Comics published a comic book series titled Asterisco. The title character of the series (Asterico, whose real name is Matia) has the power to travel between realities, including travelling to "worlds of fantasy," such as the one in which the traditional Greek gods operated in modern times as super-heroes. Thus, Asterico encountered a team named "Liga de los Vengadores" (or, in English, the "League of Avengers"). This team consisted of Hermes, Poseidon, Hades, Apolo and Helios (god of the sun, the Roman name for whom is Sol). These were not actually new characters, but were intended to be the actual traditional Greek gods, working together in the modern world as a super-hero group, battling the plans of the fellow Greco-Roman deity, Ares. This comic was written by Hernan Botticelli with art by Gabriel Silahan. As far as we know, the Liga de los Vengadores appeared in only one comic (or perhaps one story arc), but reference information about this series is limited.
