The Hive-Mind insects of the Savage Land separated insect-powered team member Humbug from the rest of the group. The insects of the Hive-Mind transformed Humbug's powers and costume considerably. They may have have reshaped his body considerably as well.

Although the Hive-Mind's transformation of Humbug appeared at first to be largely benevolent, it was eventually learned that they did so in order to use him as their agent. The Hive-Mind used Humbug as a carrier to infiltrate the ship from Sakaar that brought a Brood queen known as No-Name. This Brood queen had planned to conquer Earth for her insect kind. The Hive-Mind of Earth neutralized the threat from the Brood in order to preserve the Earth for native-born insects.
