The criminal mastermind known as the second "Big Man" was secretly Janice Foswell, the daughter of Frederick Foswell, original Big Man. The original Big Man had been defeated by Spider-Man early in his career. His daughter inherited his fortune. For years her hatred for Spider-Man festered. She organized a criminal operation and planned vengeance on Spider-Man. Unfortunately, her plot ended up getting her killed by her own hired thugs, who shot her when she was out of her disguise because they didn't recognize her. She apparently spent all of her adult life obsessed with her hatred of Spider-Man.
