Black Patch's first (and only) appearance was in a "book-length" comic book story published in All-Winners Comics #19 (Fall 1946). The story, written by Bill Finger, was divided into 7 chapters. Black Patch appeared in Chapter 6, titled "The Ice Age!," which featured Namor, the Sub-Mariner. This chapter, which can stand as a story on its own, was illustrated by Bob Powell and Al Avison.
