En route from Europe, his ship ended up sucked into the Negative Zone. Stranded in the Negative Zone, Tennyson eventually became known as "Hellscout" and it became his new goal in life to hunt down and destroy the Negative Zone's arch-villain Annihilus.

Hellscout helped the struggle against the N-Explorers in the Negative Zone. Hellscout personally decapitated Annihilus, but the villain later regenerated.
