Hassan was the ruler of the Middle Eastern nation of Mazikhandari (a Muslim nation). Hassan was assassinated by the Red Skull and replaced with a synthetic copy who was an agent of the Red Skull. Eventually the Red Skull's ruse was exposed by the Invaders and the Avengers.
