Joe Face was a criminal who worked for the flamboyant costumed villain White Rabbit. Face recruited Vinnie Patilio (a.k.e. Leap-Frog) to work as one of the White Rabbit's henchmen.

This led to the involvement of Leap-Frog's son, the heroic Frog-Man, in this case, leading to a team-up between Spider-Man and Frog-Man.

Joe Face was captured by Spider-Man and turned over to police custody soon thereafter.

(It turned out that Leap-Frog had actually gone straight. When Joe Face (an old contact of his from his days as a criminal) contacted him, Leap-Frog went to authorities. When he was working for the White Rabbit, he was actually wearing a wire to help authorities collect evidence to use against the White Rabbit and her gang.
