His son never obtained super-powers, but when she was sixteen, his daughter manifest mutant powers. His daughter, Molly, became the Irish super-heroine Shamrock.

Years later, Fitzgerald's son was killed by a terrorist's bomb. Driven crazy by his grief, Fitzgerald blamed his daughter and tried to kill her. To that end, he allied himself with the villain Arnim Zola. But this only led to Fitzgerald's own death.
