Hercules was introduced into the Marvel Universe in Journey into Mystery Annual #1 (1965), written by Stan Lee and illustrated by Jack Kirby.

Hercules wields his famous "Golden Mace," which was forged from the legendary Olympian metal Adamantine. This metal is famed for its strength, and it is what the modern super-strong metal "Adamantium" was named after. The Gates of Pluto were also constructed from Adamantine.
