Hilary Garret was a member of a devil-worshiping cult. Because she was a virgin, the group used her in a ritual that summoned a demon to Earth: Zreate'th. The demon and a sub-demon it summoned chased Hilary into a diner. The superheroine Hellcat tried to defend Hillary and destroyed Zreate'th, or so she thought.

In fact, Zreate'th possessed the body of Hilary Garret. Feeling she would never be able to free herself from the demonic possession of Zreate'th, Hilary grabbed a gun and killed herself, thus banishing the demon back to the nether realm from whence it came.
