Joshua Kane was a big-game hunter who hunted Werewolf By Night.

Kane possessed a trunk full of arcane paraphernalia. He claimed that the trunk originally belonged to Aelfric the Mad Monk, a Catholic monk who lived at the Abbey of St. Michael and who became an enemy of Werewolf By Night. One of the items in this trunk was the Libro del Malditos, a rare book that deals with supernatural topics. The title of this is Spanish, the rough translation of which is "Book of the Damned."

Joshua Kane was an old friend of Lou Hackett and the brother of Luther Kane. After Joshua Kane died, his brother Luther involved Jack Russell in a plot to kill an old enemy, but Luther's plot ultimately backfired and ended in his death.

Among the items in Kane's collection of magical items, there were werewolf rings (which had allegedly belonged to Aelfric the Mad Monk at one time). After Kane's death, the werewolf ring were in the possession of Kane's executor, attorney Geraldo Kabal. Kabal gave one of them to Lt. Lou Hackett, who used it to become an intelligent werewolf.

The werewolf rings which had once belonged to Joshua Kane were seen in Werewolf by Night (vol. 1) #s 20 and 21.
