Frankenstein, played by actor David Carradine, was the main character in the 1975 cult classic film Death Race 2000. The character's line "I Am President Frankenstein!" emerged as something of a catch-phrase and has subsequently shown up as a pop culture reference. The phrase can be seen on T-shirts, for example.

This character and his self-referential quote is referenced in Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. #3 (May 2006). While driving her car in a wild manner in pursuit of a giant monster, Elsa Bloodstone of Nextwave shouted "Death Race 2000! I am President Frankenstein!"
