Daniel Maddox is the son of Rev. John Maddox, who is a now-independent duplicate of Jamie Madrox, the Multiple Man.
When Jamie Madrox disastrously re-absorbed the "child" he thought that he had fathered with teammate Siryn, he realized that the baby had simply been a duplicate of his, and that he was apparently not capable of having children of his own. Jamie journyed to Vermont to tell John Maddox that his son Daniel could not really be his biological son. John Maddox told Jamie that he already knew this. Apparently the wife of John Maddox had been unfaithful years ago and her dalliance had resulted in he son Daniel. But this was something that the couple had long since dealt with together.
