The Dummy was a midget or who was a small-time criminal who. He posed as a ventriloquist's Dummy and hd himself delivered to the homes of wealthy people. The rich people would give the "Dummy" to their children as a gift. He would then wait until an opportune moment, rob the home, and get away.

The wisdom of this modus operandi proved questionable when the "Dummy" was locked in a toy chest and had to cry out for help so that he would not suffocate.
