It is not entirely clear why Mr. McGak's nickname is "Big Monk," but he is not a monk. "Monk" seems to be a somewhat strange nickname for somebody who was as clearly non-religious as career criminal Big Monk McGak. Not only was Big Monk McGak manifestly non-religious through his criminal beheavior, he was also clearly and forcibly non-religious and skeptical with regards to belief. He refused to believe Mister Zero's adamant claims that a certain house was haunted. He forced Mister Zero to take him to the haunted house to use as a hideout from the police. Only when he saw, with his own eyes, the incredible phenemona at the house did the hardened criminal come to believe. The now-frightened McGak turned himself into police, blubbering like a baby.
