Anya Savenlovich was a Russian Cosmonaut who was launched into Earth orbit in 1964. A problem with a second-stage rocket caused an explosion that left her adrift in space and presumed dead for the next thirty-five years.
Anya Savenlovich was overtly portrayed as a Marxist Communist. In her customized Green Lantern oath, she declared: "For social justice and the future of workers everywhere."
