Soeur Anne (French for "Sister Anne") was a Catholic nun who worked as the headmistress at Madame DuPont's School for Girls in LaVelle, Quebec. The orphaned Jeanne-Marie Beaubier was a student and resident at the school. When the deeply religious Jeanne-Marie's mutant super power (super speed) emerged during puberty, she thought that it was a divine gift. The young girl told the headmistress. Soeur Anne believed that the girl was guilty of blasphemy, and had her beaten severely. This beating trigged a split personality in Aurora.
