When Quogg arrived in a valley in Africa, the natives believed the creature was a demon. So fearsome was Quogg that the natives sealed off the valley and made going there a taboo. Commentators on this story have speculated that Quogg was actually an extraterrestrial stranded on Earth.

An unidentified criminal fled to Africa. While there, he attempted to exploit the name of the locally feared monster named Quogg. But this didn't turn out to be a wise idea, for he was then confronted by and assaulted by the real Quogg!
