Dr. Yamane apparently had some peculiar love of monsters and desire that monsters come to Earth rule. He even performed religious rituals to give monsters access to Earth. Dr. Yamane sacrificed his own father to the monster Grottu. At the Shadow Men's base he performed a ritual that allowed the powerful ancient monster known as the Apocalypse Beast to access Earth. Even Dr. Yamane's career reflected his peculiar passion and religious belief: he worked as the curator of the Giant Monster Museum (located in Japan).
