Yuri and Mikhail were two Russian scientists who had worked for the conglomerate Roxxon. They made a discovery that they did not want to fall into Roxxon's hands. They left Roxxon, but Roxxon wasn't done with them. Roxxon sent the assassin Cypress to kill them. The super-heroes Shadowcat and Meggan (of Exaclibur) tried to protect the scientists. But Yuri was shot. Yuri killed Mikhail in order to prevent their discovery from falling into the hands of Roxxon.
