Note: group wanted to remove astrological influence
There is no known connection between the group known as "Zodiac," which first appeared in Captain America (vol. 1) #449, and other Marvel Comics super-villain "Zodiac" groups. There may or may not be any connections, but as far as is known, this group is not related to the others.
The connection of this group to the religious belief in astrology is unusual. The group was actively trying to remove astrological influence from mankind in order to take over the world. So the group appears to clearly believe in astrology as a force (perhaps THE major force) in the world. But they didn't want to foster astrology or astrological belief, they wanted to suppress it in furtherance of their true goal: world domination.
