The narrative caption in this panel reads: "When they arrive at the private detective's combination apartment-and-office . . ."
The secretary tells them, "I'm sorry, Batman! Hugh left here about one o'clock-- and hasn't returned yet!"
Robin wonders, "Hmmm! Is it possible he was at the Jewel Mart after all -- watching the action from a safe vantage point?"
