Herbert Hynde (a.k.a. "Earthworm") led a major baby-selling operation. Hynde's organization purchased infants from poor parents and orphanages in dire need of money. The organization then sold the children to wealthy childless couples. This was illegal.

Hynde's organization was brought down by the superheroine Huntress. Hynde, however, escaped.
