There is an interesting coincidence associated with this character. Commissioner Gordon introduces this decorated police officer to Batman as "Lt. Detective Mike 'Bulldog' Powell." But the officer is probably most commonly known as "Mike Powell." He is the father of Patricia Powell, a policewoman who became a minor recurring character in Batman's stories for a while.

There is another Mike Powell who is also a police officer and is also the father of a better known comic book character. The father of Marvel superhero Darkhawk is also named "Mike Powell." Needless to say, these are completely separate characters.
