Before Batman and Robin tangled with Shorty Hawkins and Pete Dumont, Commissioner Gordon warned the Dynamic Duo that these two thieves had broken out of the penitentiary. Gordon mentions their full names in panel 2 on page 5 in "The Fallen Idol of Gotham City!"

Pete Dumont apparently returns in the story titled "The Puzzle of the Perilous Prizes!", published in Batman #170 (Mar. 1965). This story was written by Bill Finger with art by Joe Giella. In this story, Pete is mentioned only by his first name. In this story he is working as a henchman for "Stilts," the story's principal villain. Pete is partnered with Ed now, instead of with Shorty Hawkins. Pete's name is mentioned by Stilts in this story in panel 3 on page 4.

Note how Pete here looks like the same character as Pete Dumont in panel 3 on page 6 in "The Fallen Idol of Gotham City!" Both characters wear an identical white fedora with black band, have the same slightly small build and the same hair color and the same haircut. The suits they wear in these two stories are similar but not identical. Pete Dumont's suit features vertical stripes in "The Fallen Idol of Gotham City!", but is checked in "The Puzzle of the Perilous Prizes!"
