An unnamed police captain appeared in the first Superman story ever published. The police captain arrived on the scene of a wife-beating moments after Superman thrashed the wife beater. Hearing the approaching police sirens, Superman changed into his Clark Kent guise before the police arrived. The unnamed police captain walked through the busted-down door to see a reporter in a business suit crouching next to an unconscious wife beater.

"What are you doing here?" the police captain asked Clark.

"Hello, Captain!" the mild-mannered reporter said. "I arrived to find the place like this! Looks as tho [sic] our friend Superman had dropped in to pay a visit!"

That's the end of the story involving the wife beater. The police captain is an extremely minor figure, appearing in only one panel in a brief story that spans less than 2 pages. Virtually nothing is known about the police captain except that he is middle-aged white male police captain. It is possible that he and Clark Kent recognize each other. But it is also possible that Clark simply recognizes the captain's rank based on his badge or other visual cue on the officer's uniform. With such scant information available about this character, his religion is, of course, indeterminate (meaning that it can not be determined from the available information).
