Frankie Masters was the current heavyweight boxing championship title holder. Superman had allied himself with the former title-holder, Larry Trent. Disguised as Trent, Superman had staged a comeback in the boxing world, earning Trent a shot at the title.

The day before the scheduled title bout, a newspaper story (or ad?) read: "Championship Match Tomorrow Night: Million Dollar Gate Expected. Fisticuff followers will be flocking to the arena in droves tomorrow to witness the battle of the century. The present title-holder, Frankie Masters, claims he will send the challenger, Charlie Trent, back into obscurity..."

Frankie Masters was only mentioned by name in this newspaper article (or ad?), pictured in panel 2 of page 14. Oddly enough, the fight itself is actually depicted on pages 15 and 16, but Frankie Masters himself is never shown. Frankie's opponent Trent Masters is shown, as are his manager, the audience, the referee, and the ring. But Masters was not actually illustrated.
