Not long after coming to the Justice Society of America as a new recruit, young King Chimera explained the origin of his illusion-casting powers. He told Mr. America and the All-American Kid: "If you must know, father was a man named 'King' Standish. He was a master of disguise who fought crime as far back as World War Two. In his quest to perfect the art of illusion, he traveled to a distant land to study with a member of a secret order which shall remain nameless. The adepts of this order possess the poer to bend light and sound to cast illusions. My mother was one of them and she apparently had a thing for much older men."

King Chimera then demonstrated his powerful illusion-casting ability.
