The Jewish Protection Organization, obviously an overtly Jewish organization, was led by the proudly Jewish Sammy Bernstein. Mr. Bernstein was the ex-husband of Bernie Rosenthal, who dated Captain America for a long time.
In Captain America #275 (Nov. 1982), Captain America interceded between a neo-Nazi rally and protesters from the Jewish Protection Organization. Sammy Bernstein was angry at Captain America at the time, but the Captain was simply trying to prevent violence between the two groups.
In watching Captain America's involvement in these events, Bernie Rosenthal finally realized for the first time that her boyfriend, Steve Rogers, is actually Captain America.
