The Molecule Man sent his son to Earth to take vengeance on the Fantastic Four. The powerful son encountered the Thing and Man-Thing. Later, after he was defeated, it was revealed that the "son" wasn't really the son of the Molecule Man (Owen Reece) in the traditional biological sense, but was actually an artificial construct that Reece created.
