Doctor Janus was a former member of the Nazi Ministry of Propaganda. Years after World War II he menaced the world with apparitions he created of monsters. The Doom Patrol defeated him in their second published adventure together.
It was later revealed (in Doom Patrol vol. 1 #94) that Doctor Janus died in prison.
