Shizu'ko is the biological mother of Iceman's former girlfriend Opal Tanaka. Shizu'ko's father-in-law was the Japanese crimelord Tatsu'o. In X-Factor (vol. 1) #64 (Mar. 1991), an unnamed daughter-in-law of Tatsu'o appeared. This issue featured considerable detail about Opal Tanaka's biological family, with flashbacks showing the life of Opal's mother before Opal was born.
