The demon Bitterhorn was a servant of the devil Mephisto. Bitterhorn was sent by Mephisto to recruit a legion of 99 villains to form Mephisto's "Legion Accursed." The legion attacked the Beyonder on Mephisto's behalf, but were unable to vanquish their virtually omnipotent foe.
