Bishop Tumutuu is a South African religious leader who was attacked by a group of White Supremacists who were either members of the Ku Klux Klan or dressed and acted exactly like Ku Klux Klan members. The Bishop was defended by members of the Justice Society of America, including Hourman and Jesse Quick.

Bishop Tumutuu is apparently based, at least in part, on Bishop Desmond Tutu, the famed Anglican bishop who was a prominent activist against his nation's official racial segregation policies.
