Charles Durham was framed for a murder he didn't commit by Ted Grant, the hero known as Wildcat. Durham was given the death penalty and electrocuted. The Crimson Avenger (Jill Carlyle) confronted Wildcat in order to avenge Durham's death.

What the Crimson Avenger did not originally realize was that Durham had killed many people, but the district attorney had no evidence with which to convict him. Wildcat framed him for another murder so that justice could be dealt to Durham.
