In the 6th episode of the 8-episode first season of The Greatest American Hero (titled "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys"), actor Bruce Tuthill played a character named "Sam Watson." Later in the same year, but technically in the next television "season," actor Al Dunlap played a character with exactly the same name: "Sam Watson." This was in episode 4 of season 2 of this series.

There are two possibilities: 1. Two different actors were cast as the same character, despite the fact that they were in episodes only months apart. Or 2: Exactly the same name was used for two totally different characters.

Both episodes were written by the same person: series creator Stephen J. Cannell. It seems unlikely that Mr. Cannell would forget using this name after so short a time. Furthermore, it isn't uncommon for parts to be re-cast, so that a different actor plays the same role, even in a single TV series.

Therefore, until we do further investigation (which really should be done, by viewing these two episodes carefully), we are going to assume that "Sam Watson" in these two separate episodes is the same person.
