After her body was destroyed in an explosion, the mutant Mary Purcell existed for an unknown number of years in a green energy form. Eventually she tried to bond with Magneto in Antarctica, but she ended up being imprisoned by him.

Mary Purcell later bonded with Gambit, which is what made it possible for him to survive after he left the X-Men in Antarctica. Mary Purcell was trying to merge with Gambit in order to form a new hybrid lifeform. But Gambit resister her attempt to merge in this way, and she was apparently destroyed as a result.

In X-Men (vol. 2) #81, the green energy being might have been mistaken for Kali, the main villainess featured in that story. But the energy being was not Kali. It was Mary Purcell.
