Sylvester P. Smythe was basically Cracked Magazine's own version of Mad Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman.
Sylvester P. Smythe was more of a mascot than a regular character, and he usually only appeared on the covers of the magazine. But unlike Alfred E. Neuman, Sylvester P. Smythe really was a character in his own right. He sometimes did appear internally in Cracked Magazine itself and his character sometimes talked.
