Drew McIntosh is quite possibly the world's first Jamaican comic book super-hero character.

Created in 1993 by Nicholas Da Silva, Drew McIntosh was portrayed as a descendant of Jamaican Maroons. The character is overtly portrayed as Rastafarian, but struggles with living up to Rasta ideals and expectations. His creator describes him as an imperfect man who struggles with his "demons."

Drew McIntosh wields a sacred amulet with untold powers. His arch-nemesis is an evil Obeahman known as "Shadowcatcher," who covets the power of Drew's amulet.

Nicholas Da Silva began working on the series Dread & Alive, focused on the character Drew McIntosh, in 1993. But the creator took a few "detours" (as he describes it) and worked on other projects. It was not until Dread & Alive #1 (2010) was published that the character actually appeared in any published story.

This character is in the following story which has been indexed by this website:
Dread & Alive #1 (Feb. 2010): "Beginnings" (lead character)
