In addition to stories set in the contemporary Marvel Universe, Magus also appeared as a villain in Marvel's future-set 2099 line of comics, specifically in X-Nation 2099 #1 and Doom 2099 #14. Magus there was part of the Phalanx and infected the people of Latveria with the techno-organic virus. For Magus to complete his mission he needed the work of "scouts" sent by the Phalanx.

It is possible that Magus himself was a scout for the Phalanx and may have been known as "Scout" (identified in some indices as "Scout 2099"), but this needs further confirmation based on the relevant source materials.
