Ryan Maxwell was a worker who was working on changing the Daily Bugle sign to "DB" when he fell off. Spider-Man saved him, but then he tried to sue Spider-Man, claiming that Spider-Man had knocked him off the building. The case was known as "Maxwell vs. Spider-Man."
Although Ryan Maxwell first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #549, he was not identified by name until the next issue: Amazing Spider-Man #550.
