Mechamage belonged to the group known as the Shadow Hunters. He designed a suit of armor whch allowed him to analyze and manipulate magical forces. As part of the Shadow Hunters, Mechamage helped to stop the Ego the Living Planet from engulfing the Earth.

Mechamage invoked the mystic entity (or deity) Syd'ryak.

Mechamage used a mystic item known as the Solomon Seal to disrupt a spell that had displaced the souls of the Fantastic Four with the souls of demons. The Solomon Seal was also able to open the Gates of Heaven. This object has been sought by Brass Bishop, a foe of Alpha Flight
