Note: SHIELD agent working for Red Skull

Patrick Stansfield was an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. His SHIELD codename was Agent 776. He was secretly loyal to the villainous Red Skull. Stansfield allowed the Red Skulls followers Sin and the Serpent Squad access into a prison so that they could break Crossbones out.

Patrick Stansfield has been described as someone who was not "exactly in control of his own impulses." It is probable that he was not acting entirely of his own volition or in keeping with his core character when he allowed the Red Skull's agents into the prison he was guarding. He was apparently one of the first of a string of otherwise loyal SHIELD agents who were compromised by Doctor Faustus, a psychiatrist working for the Red Skull who had powerful means of manipulating people and controlling their wills.
