"Kalorian" is apparently a title used to refer to a being who feeds his or her soul to the powerful alien Zalkor, in exchange for immense power.

The Zalkor is worshiped as a deity by the Zalgodians. The best known Kalorian is Count Abyss, who became a villain that confronted Warlock and the Infinity Watch. But Count Abyss was not the first or only Kalorian. In addition to feeding their own soul to the Zalkor, the Kalorian would feed Skrimblatt to the Zalkor. The Zalkor had immense power, but was physically immobile. The Zalkor was addicted to Skrimblatt, but couldn't reach it for itself.
