Elise Erickson was a sincere worshiper of Thor. When she was pregnant with her first child, a son she would name Zachary, she wrote Thor, telling him: "When my son is born in June, I will raise him believing in you, unlike how my father raised me. I will raise my son looking up to you, striving to be the hero that you encourage us all to be. We all walk humbly in hour footsteps. Every night I pray to you, to lead me through this trial of darkness."

Elise wrote another letter to Thor when her son Zachary was two years old. In the letter she stated that she had been married to a "wonderful man" for 3 months. Her new husband's last name was Smith. Zachary may have taken on the last name of her new husband for a time, but this marriage broke up. So Zachary ended up using the name "Zachary Erickson" more than any other name.

A few years after she was married, Elise divorced her husband Mike. He had brutally abused her, breaking her arm and later putting her into a coma. After she moved out with her son, he died, just 12 days before his birthday. Based on the story, Zachary was probably between 4 and 7 years old when he died.

Elise Erickson wrote an angry letter to Thor, talking about the abuse she received at the hands of her husband and mentioning the death of her son. She wrote: "And little Zachary died in May, just 12 days short of his BIRTHDAY. Your taking him from me is something I can never forgive. I can only hope he is in a better place than this now."

In a later letter to Thor, Elise states that she was grateful that her daughter does not have the same disease that took the life of her son Zachary.
