The Hood first appeared in Captain America (vol. 1) #130. His identity was unknown at that time.

In Captain America #131, it is revealed that the mysterious villain known only as "The Hood" is actually none other than the Nazi weapon master Baron Von Strucker. It will later be revealed that this is not the real Baron Strucker, but it is a robotic duplicate of Baron Strucker, created by the villainous robotics genius Machinesmith.
