Smasher Kreel was a criminal who worked for Harlem-based crime boss Morgan.

In the opening pages of Captain America (vol. 1) #152, Smasher Kreel was "riding shotgun" alongside fellow criminal Rocky in a truck along the East River Drive. They were hauling chemicals for Boss Morgan.

The Falcon and his avian partner Redwing intercepted the truck, beat Rocky and Smasher Kreel up a bit, and forced Kreel to reveal who paid for the chemical shipment.

The information Kreel provided to the Falcon led the Harlem hero to Boss Morgan, and from there the Falcon was able to find out where Mister Hyde and the Scorpion were hiding the abducted Sharon Carter. This was the Falcon's objective all along.

The chemicals that Smasher Kreel and Rocky were supposed to deliver to Mister Hyde (as arranged by Boss Morgan) were presumably chemicals that Hyde needed for the formula he uses to turn from Calvin Zabo into the monstrously strong Mister Hyde, or perhaps they were intended for other experiments. When Scorpion asked Mister Hyde about the chemicals (page 6), Hyde told him, "Friend, that's none of your business."
