"Scar" Turpin was a biker and a generally honorable man. He was a member of the Sickle Cycle Club, based in San Rafael, California.

When Steve Rogers publically retired from being Captain America, there was a void. A few people took it upon themselves to try to become the new "Captain America." One such person was Scar Turpin. He donned a Captain America costume and tried to do some good. But on his first time out he was overcome by a group of criminals, the Road Runners. The gang beat Turpin up. Discouraged, he immediately retired from being Captain America.
